An Electrical Installation Condition Report, commonly referred to as an EICR, is a formal assessment of the safety and condition of the electrical installations within a property. It is carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671, the UK’s national standard for electrical installations.

It provides a detailed record of the current state of the wiring, circuits, consumer unit and associated electrical components. At GLP Air Conditioning, our fully qualified electricians carry out EICR inspections for both domestic and commercial clients.

What an EICR involves

A thorough inspection of your entire electrical installation

During an EICR inspection, our electrician will carry out a series of thorough visual checks and technical tests across your property’s entire electrical installation. This includes:

  • Inspecting the consumer unit
  • Checking earthing and bonding arrangements
  • Testing circuits for continuity and insulation resistance
  • Verifying that protective devices such as fuses and circuit breakers are functioning correctly
  • Identifying any areas where the installation does not meet current standards

At the end of the inspection, you will receive a clear, detailed report of the findings along with a recommendation for any remedial work required.

How issues are classified

Code C1

Immediate danger

Represents an immediate danger to persons. Urgent remedial action is required before the installation is used.

Code C2

Potentially dangerous

Not an immediate danger, but could become hazardous. Remedial work should be carried out as soon as possible.

Code C3

Improvement recommended

Does not meet current standards, but it is not dangerous. Improvements are recommended but not urgently required.

Your report explained: Any issues identified are categorised by severity. You will receive a clear, detailed report of the findings along with a recommendation for any remedial work required.
